Shortcuts by bank

Shortcuts that take your bank alert to Finance, without typing a thing.

Set up a shortcut once on your iPhone or Android: when your bank’s alert arrives, Finance opens the capture screen already filled in and you confirm.

How it works

  1. 1

    Set up the shortcut once

On your iPhone (Shortcuts app) or your Android you build an automation that opens Finance when your bank’s alert arrives. We guide you step by step here.

  2. 2

Your phone hands over the alert

When the SMS, email or notification arrives, its text travels to Finance and the capture screen opens prefilled.

  3. 3

    You confirm with one tap

Review the description and amount, fix anything if needed and save. Nothing is saved without your confirmation.

Before you start

  • Signed in to Finance

If you haven’t signed in, Finance takes you to the sign-in page and what you shared is not kept. Sign in on the browser where the link will open.

  • Android: Finance installed

That’s what makes Finance show up in the Share menu. Install it from your browser’s menu.

  • iPhone: the Shortcuts app

Its personal automations (Message, Email and Transaction) open Finance with the text of the alert.

Pick your phone

The guides work with any bank: they depend on how the alert reaches you (SMS, email or notification), not on which bank you use.

iPhone

The Shortcuts app can watch three things: an SMS, an email or an Apple Pay purchase. iOS doesn’t let you watch other apps’ notifications, so we don’t promise that channel on iPhone.

Finance address for “Open URLs”

https://finance--moveeapplife.us-central1.hosted.app/share-target?text=

Paste it into the action and add the alert text at the end, encoded for URLs.

SMS alert (Message trigger)Available

Every time an SMS from your bank arrives, Shortcuts opens Finance with the text of the message.

  1. Open the Shortcuts app, go to Automation and create a personal automation with the Message trigger.
  2. Enter the sender of your bank’s SMS messages, or a text that only appears in its purchase alerts.
  3. If your iPhone allows it, set it to run without asking; if not, you’ll have to confirm it on every alert.
  4. Add a URL-encoding action (search for “encode”) and apply it to the shortcut input, which is the text of the message.
  5. Add the Open URLs action: paste the Finance address and, right after it, the encoded result.
  6. Save. With the next alert, Finance opens the capture screen prefilled: review and confirm.

Finance fills in the amount only when the text has a currency marker (for example, $ 45,000) and a single value; otherwise you type it.

Email alert (Email trigger)Available

Every time an email from your bank arrives, Shortcuts opens Finance with its content.

  1. In Shortcuts, go to Automation and create a personal automation with the Email trigger.
  2. Enter the sender of your bank’s alerts, or a text that appears in the subject.
  3. If your iPhone allows it, set it to run without asking.
  4. Add a URL-encoding action and apply it to the content of the email that Shortcuts gives you as input.
  5. Add the Open URLs action with the Finance address followed by the encoded result.
  6. Save. With the next alert, check on Finance’s capture screen that the text with the amount arrived complete.

If something is missing, change which part of the email you send to Finance. The amount is only filled in when the text has the currency and a single value.

Apple Pay purchases (Transaction trigger)Available

Every time you pay with a Wallet card, Shortcuts opens Finance with the merchant and the amount.

  1. In Shortcuts, go to Automation and create a personal automation with the Transaction trigger.
  2. Choose the Wallet cards you want to watch.
  3. If your iPhone allows it, set it to run without asking.
  4. Build a text with the merchant and the amount of the transaction (Shortcuts hands them to you as transaction data) and pass it through a URL-encoding action.
  5. Add the Open URLs action with the Finance address followed by the encoded text.
  6. Save. On your next Apple Pay purchase, Finance opens the capture screen prefilled for you to confirm.

For Finance to fill in the amount, write the currency next to the value (for example, $ 45,000 or 45,000 COP).

Android

To automate you need a third-party automation app, such as MacroDroid or Tasker. Finance doesn’t make them or control how they work.

Finance address for “Open URLs”

https://finance--moveeapplife.us-central1.hosted.app/share-target?text=

Paste it into the action and add the alert text at the end, encoded for URLs.

Bank notification with an automation appAvailableWith a third-party app

A third-party automation app, such as MacroDroid or Tasker, watches for the notification and opens Finance with its text. Finance doesn’t make those apps or control how they work.

  1. Install the automation app you prefer and grant it the permission to read notifications.
  2. Create an automation with the “notification received” trigger and choose the app that alerts you: your bank’s or, if it alerts you by SMS or email, your messages or email app.
  3. As the action, choose opening a URL: type the Finance address and, at the end, insert the notification text with the variable your app offers.
  4. If your app allows it, encode that text for URLs: otherwise, symbols such as & or # can cut it short.
  5. With the next alert, Finance should open the capture screen prefilled. Review and confirm.

You give the permission to read notifications to the automation app, not to Finance: Finance only receives the text your automation sends to the address.

Manual sharing

No automation: you share the alert to Finance whenever you want. Today it is available on Android with the app installed.

Share an alert to Finance (Android)Available

No automation: whenever you want to log an alert, you share it to Finance from Android’s Share menu.

  1. Make sure Finance is installed on your Android and you are signed in.
  2. Open the alert (SMS, email or a notification you copied) and select its text, or take a screenshot.
  3. Tap Share and pick Finance from the list.
  4. Review the description and amount on the prefilled capture screen and confirm.

Today, sharing to Finance is available on Android with the app installed. On iPhone, use a shortcut or copy the alert and paste it into the description of a new transaction.

Automatic notification capture

Coming soon

Coming with the native iOS and Android apps, which are in development: your bank’s alerts will be captured on your phone and arrive as suggestions.

Nothing is ever saved without your confirmation

Shortcuts only carry the alert text to the capture screen: you review the description and amount and decide whether it is saved. Finance fills in the amount only when the text has a currency marker and a single value. That text travels in the address that opens Finance, so it can stay in your browser history.

Catalog by bank

Today there is no downloadable shortcut per bank: the guides above work for all of them. Where we know it, we show the channel users report as usual.

Results: 19

“Usual” is what users report; check it on your phone.

The banks mentioned are not partners of Finance and do not endorse these shortcuts; their names belong to their owners.

Is your bank missing?

The guides work with any bank that alerts you by SMS, email or notification. Tell us which one you use and how it alerts you, and we’ll take it into account for the catalog.
